Hello and welcome to the fascinating world of paragliding with Altazor Skysports. Our idea is to share our passion in a safe and comfortable way and to provide great service with a reasonable price. We have already 16 years of experience flying tandems and an excellent safety record of more than 15000 flights with happy passengers without accidents. Our safety is based on new and frequently controlled equipment and of course well trained and experienced pilots. Your flight adventure starts when we pick you up from your hostal or any address in Iquique and start driving up to the take off in Alto Hospicio. As we drive up we will make a briefing about the flight you will soon be enjoying, but also about flying paragliders in general and especially in Iquique. When we arrive at the take-off we will provide you a warm and comfortable flight suit, helmet and the harness where you will be seated during the flight. After you have been dressed up you will join the pilots who have prepared and chequed the equipment to be ready to fly. Your personal pilot-instructor will also explain and prepare you for the take off and landing. The flight time is about 25 minutes and normally we fly over the city of Iquique and land on one of the beautiful beaches: Playa Brava or Cavancha, but as our flying depends on the weather conditions and it is not always possible to take enough altitude to cross the town safely, we might also use alternative landing areas like Playa Huayquique or Las Dunas. After the smooth and safe landing we will take you back to your hotel or any address in Iquique. The whole trip takes about two & half hours, but it is advisable to reserve a little bit more time as the weather conditions sometimes force us to wait for a while at the take off. Although we have to wait sometimes at the launch it is quite unusual that we have to cancel flights. We fly all seasons every day and there are only a few days in a year we cannot fly at all !!! We recommend comfortable clothing, good shoes like sneakers, hiking shoes or similar, sun glasses, sun lotion, and a camera if you wish to take photos. We also take photos in the air with our wide angle GoPro cameras. The cameras are mounted on a stick with an extension of 1.5 meters and the cam is adjusted to take photos every 2 seconds so after the landing we usually have more than 100 photos and also a short video if the conditions allow the pilot to readjust the cam in the air. The value of the photos is 10.000,- pesos and they come with a 2GB SDCard. You can make the desicion of buying the photos after the landing. To avoid motion sickness sleep well the night before, have just a light breakfast or lunch before the flight and if in doubt take a pill against motion sickness before we pick you up. In case you don´t have the pills don´t worry as we always have them in our van or bus. Please confirm your flight at least 1 day in advance especially for weekends and high seasons.
